I am going to make two tarantula carts for the grandsons will the live axle be hard to steer with both back tires being driven dose any one make a 1-1/4 lock on hub that could be mounted on a live shaft so one tire could freewheel for better steering.that way I would still have the live axle to mount the break and sprocket to

just go with the normal live axle, it works fine, and is easier than what you have explained here

Yes Bowtie1968, John is right. They do make some ways to do what your asking properly but they are pretty costly and a bit more work.
