In this video, we at Spidercarts walk you through the process of assembling the subframe for the go-kart. First, we explain how to align and mark the pieces, starting with the 2130, which serves as the reference for all other measurements. After marking the center and measuring 6 inches in both directions from the center, we arrange the other pieces accordingly. The subframe consists of a combination of 2130, 1290, 14590, and 430 pieces, which are assembled step by step.
We focus on welding the straight sections first to ensure stability, followed by attaching the end pieces and securing them with additional welds. Once the frame structure is in place, we attach the motor mount plate between two key components and weld it into position. We also add the disc brake bracket and bearing hangers, ensuring that each part is properly aligned. For those who are not comfortable with welding, we suggest taking the parts to a professional welder.
Finally, we go over some critical measurements, including where to position the bearing hangers and the disc brake bracket. We highlight the importance of ensuring everything is straight and aligned correctly to avoid issues with the axle and bearing assembly. With the subframe complete, we’re ready to move on to the next phase of the build.
